Tesla reached the historic milestone of one million cars produced. It was through Twitter that Elon Musk announced the achievement to the world, thanking the entire Tesla team.

The landmark was celebrated at Tesla's headquarters in Palo Alto, with Musk's publication also revealing which car was 1,000,000: a new Tesla Model Y , the crossover derived from the Model 3, here in a vibrant red hue.

The opening of its Gigafactory in China (in record time) contributed greatly to this result achieved, and even with the Coronavirus crisis currently affecting global industrial and economic activities, it is expected that the new factory will produce 150 thousand units this year. of the Model 3.

However, after some initial delays, the construction of the European Gigafactory, more precisely in Germany, near Berlin, is already proceeding at full speed, which could add a production capacity of up to half a million more vehicles per year — it is planned to be produced Model 3 and the new Model Y.

In 2019, Tesla produced its largest number of vehicles ever — approximately 367,500 — so it is to be expected that, with the introduction of the Model Y and with the Chinese Gigafactory running at 100%, that number will be largely surpassed this year .

In other words, if in 2020 it reached this historic milestone of having produced its one million car, if everything goes according to Tesla's own growth forecasts, during 2021 we will be seeing a two million car leave one of its factories.
