Toyota GR Supra invades SEMA Show. How many Supra were on display?

If there were any doubts that the new Toyota GR Supra is one of the cars of the year, this year's SEMA Show (Specialty Equipment Market Association) eliminates them.

The event dedicated to specialized automobile accessories and equipment is known for exhibiting all kinds of automobile preparations and, as a general rule, the protagonists are North American: muscle cars with absurd amounts of power, SUV capable of climbing Everest, pick-up trucks for apocalyptic futures and without forgetting the classics, which only have their lines of classics.

But this year the protagonist was one and there was nothing for an American — some say that neither was Japanese… The new Toyota GR Supra invaded the SEMA Show, with an absurd amount of new Supras present at the event. How many Supra were there? There was someone — the throtl channel — who took the time to tell:

43!… Yes, 43 Supra were present at this year's SEMA Show — it was the most watched model there. The truth is that much of the “cult” of Supra is due to the world of preparations, the potential of the 2JZ-GTE and, of course, the Fast and Furious saga.

Toyota itself recognizes this facet of its GT, in this new generation that is much sportier, and knows that the success of the new GR Supra may depend on the acceptance of this entire community.

And looking at this year's SEMA Show, the evidence looks promising. Not even Toyota resisted the temptation to bring several modified Supras to the SEMA Show.

Toyota GR Supra 3000GT Concept

Toyota GR Supra 3000GT

Created by Toyota itself, through its Toyota Customizing & Development department, and inspired by the 1994 Toyota Supra TRD3000GT, the highlight goes to the exterior alterations. Much wider and more aggressive, the hood openings (taken from the predecessor) and the huge rear wing stand out. Mechanically, it keeps stock.

Toyota Supra Wasabi

Also from Toyota, this very green Supra Wasabi appeared, also standing out for its superior visual aggressiveness and 20-inch wheels. In addition to the exterior, the Wasabi brings new brakes from Brembo, adjustable coilovers from Öhlins, but like the 3000GT, the mechanics have remained untouched.

Depending on the reception, Toyota is considering putting some of the accessories on sale.

Toyota GR Supra HyperBoost Edition

It was not created by Toyota, but was created at Toyota's request by Rutledge Wood, a Nascar analyst and former US Top Gear presenter. And it is definitely one of the most radical new Supra showcased.

The highlight, the enlarged body, made up of carbon fiber panels (a kit of 20 pieces), and the six in-line cylinders to be “massaged” until the 750 hp (760 hp). The wheels are from Lightspeed Racing, 20″ and in three pieces and the suspension is composed of V3 adjustable coilovers from KW Automotive.

The name says it all. The Supra Heritage Edition pays homage to Supra's heritage in the aftermarket world — even before it was catapulted to fame by The Fast and the Furious.

Nostalgia runs strong in this creation. Notice the rear wing or taillights (with optics mounts using 3D printing) that evoke the A90's predecessor, the Supra A80 — shouldn't this be the standard solution chosen?

They weren't just left with the “memories”. The partnership with Precision Turbo and Engine has released more horsepower than BMW's original in-line six — they just announced that it's more than 500 hp. Suspension is by TEIN (coilovers), brakes by Brembo, 19″ wheels by HRE, complete the set.
