Worthersee. The Golf GTI Aurora and Golf Estate FighteR are the creation of Volkswagen apprentices

Anonim

Unlike what happened in recent years when Volkswagen unveiled at the Wörthersee Festival models such as the Golf GTI TCR, Golf GTI Clubsport or the prototype that anticipated the up! GTI, this year is not reserved for any major revelation for the Austrian festival, leaving the news to… apprentices of the German brand.

So, for this year's edition of the festival dedicated to the Volkswagen GTI world, apprentices from the Wolfsburg and Zwickau factories set to work and created not one, but two unique copies of the Volkswagen Golf.

Apprentices from the Wolfsburg factory will take the Golf GTI Aurora , a (very) radical version of the Golf GTI. The work carried out by the students of Zwickau resulted in the Golf Estate FighteR which, despite being a unique example, will fulfill the functions of safety car at the German circuit of Sachsenring.

The Golf GTI Aurora…

Animated by a 2.0 l of 380 hp coupled to a seven-speed DSG gearbox, the biggest innovations of the Golf GTI Aurora, in addition to the extra horsepower, are inside, despite the bodywork painted in Nardo Gray and with a bodykit painted by hand until it managed to capture attention.

In addition to having lost the rear seats, the Golf GTI Aurora received a 3500 W sound system and, in the trunk, a hologram system that can be used to control using a joystick or special gloves with sensors. the sound system.

…and the Golf Estate FighteR

While the Wolfsburg apprentices' project was based on the Golf GTI and the three-door bodywork, the Zwickau team used the Golf R in the…van version as a basis, calling it Golf Estate FighteR (or in its “family” name Golf Estate R 4MOTION FighteR).

Despite being based on the estate version of the Golf R, the Golf Estate FighteR raises the number of horses up to a round 400 hp.

Wider (both the front and rear wheel arches have been widened), the Golf Estate FighteR has roof and grille lights so it can perform safety car duties at the Sachsenring circuit. Inside, we find leather and Alcantara finishes and, as you'd expect, baquets.

Animating the Golf Estate FighteR is a 400 hp 2.0 TSI engine associated with a DSG seven-speed gearbox. Finally, in technological terms, the biggest attraction is the 360º camera installed on the roof, which has already been used to record a lap on the circuit where the Golf Estate FighteR will serve as a safety car and which can be seen with VR goggles.
