After saying goodbye to European markets 15 years ago (the last generation sold here disappeared in 2004), the Toyota Camry is back. Destined to occupy the top of the range of the Japanese brand, its prices for Portugal are already known.

Developed based on the new Global-Architecture K (GA-K) platform, it is shared with the similar Lexus ES. Available only in a body format (four-door saloon), the Camry, around here, will only be available with a hybrid powertrain.

It combines a 2.5 l gasoline engine (Atkinson cycle) with an electric motor powered by a nickel metal hydride battery, achieving a combined power of 218 hp and a thermal efficiency of 41%, with consumption standing at 5.5 to 5.6 l/100 km and CO2 emissions between 125 and 126 g/km.

Out of curiosity, the Camry versions sold in Portugal are produced in Japan.

Finally, the top version, limousine , offers as standard, steering wheel with electric adjustment, Triple Zone air conditioning, rear seats with electric recline, Head-Up Display, JBL sound system, electric sun blind and even a rear instrument console where the passenger can adjust the air conditioning and even change the radio station.

How much does the new Camry cost?

Toyota expects the Luxury version to be the best seller in the Camry range, representing more than half of sales (55%) and the Exclusive version, the most affordable, representing just 5% of sales. The Limousine version should logically correspond to the remaining 40% of the sales mix.

Common to all Camrys is a seven-year or 160,000 kilometer warranty and a hybrid system battery warranty of up to 10 years. Keep the prices:

  • Camry Exclusive — €43,990
  • Camry Luxury — 46 990 euros
  • Camry Limousine — 49,690 euros
