New Porsche 911 GTS. In the middle is virtue?

Thanks to the new turbo engine and the optional all-wheel drive system, the new Porsche 911 GTS will be able to cover 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.

Midway through its life cycle, the Porsche 911 range (991.2) continues to grow year on year. It is already in March that the renewed 911 GTS arrives on the market in coupé, cabriolet and Targa bodies, presented this week at the Detroit Motor Show.

Available with rear or all-wheel drive (optional), the new Porsche 911 GTS starts from the new 3.0 liter flat-six turbo engine with 450 hp and 550 Nm of maximum torque (available between 2,150 and 5,000 rpm). Compared to the current 911 Carrera S, there is an additional 30 hp of power, and compared to the previous generation of the 911 GTS (with atmospheric engine) there is an additional 20 hp of power.

Unlike the GT3 and GT3 RS versions, on the 911 GTS it is still possible to choose between the seven-speed manual gearbox and the PDK dual-clutch gearbox. Putting the new Porsche 911 GTS (991.2) in direct competition with the chronometer hands, it now registers just 3.6 seconds from 0-100km/h. The top speed is now 312 km/h (in the rear-wheel drive and manual transmission version)

Because part of the mystique of the GTS versions lies in the dynamic set-up, somewhere halfway between a Carrera S (more comfortable) and a GT3 (sharper), Porsche has equipped the GTS with its very best. Both the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) suspension system and the well-known Sport Chrono package – comprising dynamic engine mounts and a more entertaining sports exhaust system (read audible…) – are available as standard.

Visually, this new Porsche 911 GTS stands out from its siblings thanks to its wider rear spoiler, darkened headlights, sports bumpers, black-finished cooling grille and new dual center exhausts.

All versions (coupé, Cabriolet and Targa) are based on the all-wheel drive chassis, whose bodywork is extended by 1852 mm compared to the rear-wheel drive models.
