It's one of the most coveted models… by Americans. Long requested by Jeep enthusiasts, and the Wrangler in particular, the pick-up of his name gladiator , derives directly from the off-road icon and is finally a reality.
Anticipating its presentation at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show, which takes place later this month, the now-published images of the Jeep Gladiator reveal no surprises… It is, effectively, a Jeep Wrangler pick-up.
However, it couldn't come at a better time, as the segment of what North Americans call the mid-size pick-up is growing. Gladiator will not only face the established Toyota Tacoma or Chevrolet Colorado, but anticipate the Ford Ranger that arrives next year — interestingly, Ford doesn't have any average pickup for sale in the US.

Despite strong rivals, the Jeep Gladiator will be a unique proposition in the segment. It will inherit from the Wrangler the features that distinguish it from any other current all-terrain vehicle, such as a folding windshield or even a canvas hood, in addition to being able to choose between two types of hardtops. Rivals have nothing similar...
And without forgetting that, taking into account its origins, this pick-up should be the most capable off-road in the segment, equaling the capabilities of the Wrangler. This is what can be inferred from the leak of information that also occurred, “accidentally” appearing on the Jeep website about Gladiator.
A ford capacity of 76.2 cm and robust Dana 44 axles with the possibility of electronically disconnecting the stabilizer bar were reported. And as standard, apparently, it will have 33″ off road tires as well as electric locks for the front and rear Tru-Lock differentials.

For now we don't know if the Jeep Gladiator will reach Europe, but it will share the engines with the Wrangler, which include the 3.6 V6 petrol, as well as the future 3.0 V6 Diesel — in Portugal it is only available with the 2.2 Diesel.
