During the summer, Mazda announced the start of a restoration program for the MX-5 NA , the first generation of the model. The first results of this program can now be seen at the next Tokyo Auto Salon, which opens its doors early next year.
Remember that this restoration program is divided into two areas. One is dedicated to the entire restoration of the car, with Mazda guaranteeing the return of an MX-5 to a state as close to the original as possible. The second area is dedicated to the reproduction of original parts, such as hoods, wooden Nardi steering wheels or even Bridgestone SF325 tires in the original measurements of the first MX-5s.

There will be three copies that Mazda will take to the Tokyo Auto Salon, each in a different color — blue, white and red. The work carried out involved dismantling the car until only the bodywork was left, which was repaired from all damage and corrosion, before being repainted. The engine also “jumped out” for an excellent service.
Apparently, the results are perfect and it's even likely that these MX-5 NAs are even better than when they were new. , given the extra attention paid by the technicians in charge, which is not usually found on a production line.
For any interested parties, the Japanese brand has been accepting customer orders since December 13th, but, as mentioned above, the restoration program will take place exclusively at Mazda's facilities in Hiroshima, Japan. from a logistical and financial point of view.
It's not just classics that Mazda brings to the salon
The Mazda MX-5 NA will be Mazda's stars at the show, but they won't be the only ones. The Tokyo Auto Salon is dedicated to customization and tuning, an opportunity for Mazda to present its latest proposals.
The Mazda MX-5 Roadster Custom Style 2018, which in addition to the red hood, also receives an adjustable suspension. The MX-5 Roadster RF Custom Style 2018 stands out for its newly designed 17″ wheels.
And perhaps the most desired, the NR-A is the first MX-5 on a "legal street" circuit, that is, approved for walking on public roads . This model comes equipped with adjustable suspension from Bilstein, front suspension reinforcements, a larger radiator and a new cover for the limited-slip differential with cooling fins.
Mazda crossovers will also be present. From the CX-8 — 20-inch wheels and lowered suspension — to the CX-5 and CX-3 that will show a new set of wheels.
