New Mercedes-Benz pickup truck may be called "Class X"

The Mercedes-Benz pick-up can be presented at the Paris Salon in October. Shares platform with Nissan Navara.

Since last year, it has been known that Mercedes will launch a pick-up truck, the result of a partnership between the Daimler Group and the Renault-Nissan Alliance. In addition to the already announced sharing of the platform between the two groups in the development of their pick-ups, it is expected that the engines will also be shared. Even so, the possibility of Mercedes-Benz using its own engines from four to six cylinders is not far away.

The similarities end here. In terms of design, Mercedes-Benz will focus on differentiation (a merely speculative featured image). The new pick-up will feature a double cabin and lines similar to the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, which will certainly not lack the traditional Stuttgart brand grill.

With this new pick-up the German brand intends to redefine the segment, and according to Auto Express the nomenclature of the new model could be “Mercedes-Benz Class X”. Although the presentation should take place later this year at the Paris Motor Show, in October, the new pick-up should only be launched at the end of 2017, according to Volker Mornhinweg, responsible for the Mercedes-Benz commercial division.
