Volvo on Call: you can now “talk” to a Volvo through a wristband

Volvo, in partnership with Microsoft, developed an application that allows you to interact with the car from a distance.

This is one of the novelties that is marking CES 2016. The International Fair dedicated to new technologies is just like the brand new concept presented by Faraday Future and the new voice control system from Volvo.

No, not with the traditional voice system inside the cabin. Everything works through Microsoft Band 2, a smart bracelet developed that lets you control the car from a distance. It is possible to perform various tasks, such as controlling the navigation system, climate control system, lighting, turning the car on/off, locking the doors or even blowing the horn in front of the driver (but only in case of danger…).

With the Volvo on Call mobile application, the Swedish brand intends to show its ambition in developing advanced technology for the next generation of autonomous vehicles. “What we want is to make the in-car experience easier and more convenient through new technologies. Voice control is just the beginning…” said Thomas Müller, vice president of the electronics division of the Volvo Car Group. The brand guarantees that this technology will be available as early as the spring of 2016.
