For the second time in 30 years, Portugal receives the 2CV Friends World Meeting . As in 1987, when the then 7th World Meeting was held, the place chosen for the event was again Ericeira.
With more than 2000 cars guaranteed for the EriceiraCamping venue, the meeting, the largest in the world, brings to Portugal enthusiasts from around the world of the Citroën 2CV, the iconic French model created in the 1930s and which survived until 1990.
The program officially starts this Wednesday, July 26th, and ends on the 31st (Monday). As is already a tradition in this type of meeting, there is room for all kinds of activities: Elegance and Restoration Contests, Dismantling-Assembling a 2CV, Tour in Ericeira-Mafra Caravan and the PopCross Demonstration, among others.
In addition to the official days of this 22nd edition of the event, two other initiatives are already taking place. The “Volta a Portugal in 2CV” and the “Raid 2CV Portugal”, which started on the 15th in Mangualde – precisely where the factory from which the last 2CV unit came out was located – and ends on the 28th (Friday) at EriceiraCamping.
The popularity of the Citroën 2CV is still very much alive around the world, and Portugal is no exception. In addition to being the last country to produce the 2CV, the activity of the various clubs and national associations linked to the French model is constant. It is no coincidence that the 22nd World Meeting in Ericeira was recognized by the ACI (Amicale Citroën Internationale), the organization that brings together all clubs and lovers of the French brand, with the EoTY – Event of The Year certificate.
Citroën is, of course, one of the partners in this event, and will be present with the new C3.
