The new Volkswagen T-Roc, presented today in Germany, is very likely the most important model in the history of the Portuguese automobile industry. It is the first large-scale model produced by Autoeuropa and is the first Volkswagen model with an MQB platform (platform used by all compact models of the VW Group) produced on national soil.

In terms of range, the new Volkswagen T-Roc ranks below the Volkswagen Tiguan, taking on a younger and more adventurous character. This posture is visible in the more dramatic shapes of the bodywork, with a profile “halfway” between an SUV and a Coupé (Volkswagen calls it CUV).

The front is dominated by a large hexagonal grille designed to integrate with the headlights.

To further mark the body profile, it is possible to opt for a body in two tones, with the roof being configurable in four colors: Deep Black, Pure White Uni, Black Oak and Brown Metallic.

Inside, this younger and sportier posture is also evident. In addition to the presence of the most recent gadgets of the Volkswagen Group, namely the 100% digital display (Active Info Display) and the Discovery Pro infotainment system with gesture control system (8 inches). A 6.5-inch screen will be available as standard. Note the use of notes in the same color as the bodywork, the result is evident in the images.

Volkswagen T-Roc engines

The Volkswagen T-Roc will hit the European market this year with a wide range of engines. As we had already advanced, the engines are transferred from the Golf range – with the exception of an absolute debut (we'll be right there).

On the gasoline engine side, we can count on the 115 hp 1.0 TSI engine and the 150 hp 1.5 TSI – the latter available with a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG (double clutch) automatic transmission, with or without 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The big news among the TSI engines is the debut of a new 2.0 TSI 190 hp (only available with DSG-7 gearbox and 4Motion system).

On the Diesel side, at the beginning of the range, we find the 115 hp 1.6 TDI engine (manual gearbox), followed by the 150 hp 2.0 TDI engine (manual gearbox or DSG-7). At the top of the «food chain» of diesel engines we find yet another engine: a 2.0 TDI with 190 hp of power.

The new Volkswagen T-Roc will make its first public appearance as early as next September, at the Frankfurt Motor Show – find out more here.
