Cold Start. The fastest tractor in the world "destroyed" its own record

Anonim

In June we made known the JCB Fastrac 8000 or Fastrac One, the fastest tractor on the planet, having reached a speed of 166.72 km/h at Elvington aerodrome, in Yorkshire (average of two passes in opposite directions in a section of 1 km in length, according to the rules of Guinness World Records).

Okay, the tractor is not original, as you can imagine, but it is based on the production model and had a little help from Williams — yes, the same ones from Formula 1 — to be able to reach such speeds. It doesn't lack power: just over 1000 hp and 2500 Nm extracted from the substantial 7.2 l Diesel block.

However, I soon learned. In October JCB and Guy Martin, the service pilot, returned to the airfield with a revised version of the tractor: the JCB Fastrac Two . The differences for the predecessor were concentrated in the reduction of the aerodynamic resistance and in the lightening of the immense machine (now it weighs 10% less).

The result? JCB Fastrac Two shattered its own record by achieving a average speed of 217.57 km/h , having registered a peak of… 247.47 km/h!

The biggest challenge? Accelerate the 5,000 kg of the huge machine beyond 240 km/h and bring it to a stop… safely.
