60 years after the tragic accident, there are new clues as to the whereabouts of the Porsche 550 Spyder that killed James Dean.

It was 60 years ago yesterday that James Dean, one of the great icons of Hollywood and a true lover of engines, died following a tragic accident. James Dean was driving his Porsche 550 Spyder to a race in Salinas, Calif., when an oncoming vehicle collided head-on with him.

In the years that followed, the Porsche 550 Spyder, nicknamed the “Little Bastard,” which many considered to be doomed, was used to promote road safety until it mysteriously disappeared while being transported to California.

The "Little Bastard" was said to be cursed. At the time several deaths were associated with the direct contact with him. Truth or myth, some of the people who took parts of the "Little Bastard" or had direct contact with this car, had tragic deaths. This turn of events has allegedly led to two men having decided to hide the car from the public, in an attempt to end the deaths they were ironically trying to avoid by using it for road safety campaigns.

Half a century later, it looks like the Porsche 550 Spyder can be found again. The Volo Auto Museum, one of the oldest American museums, recently revealed the existence of clues to the car's whereabouts.

According to the museum, a man has indicated that the car is hidden in a building in Washington. This man, then just six years old, claims to have seen his father, with the help of a few other men, hiding the wreckage of the Porsche 550 Spyder between the walls of a building. This man says he won't reveal its exact location until the museum secures the delivery of the $1 million prize it promised to whoever discovered the car.
