Up to 770 km of autonomy and 523 hp. Mercedes-Benz EQS numbers

Anonim

THE Mercedes-Benz EQS has made itself known little by little and after having seen its interior marked (optionally) by the MBUX Hyperscreen, now we are made aware of some of the numbers associated with its electric powertrain.

Starting with the batteries, they have a 400 V architecture and feature 90 kWh or 107.8 kWh of useful capacity, allowing the EQS to achieve a maximum autonomy of up to 770 km (WLTP).

Equipped with liquid cooling, they can be pre-heated or cooled before or during the journey, all to ensure that they arrive at a fast loading station at the optimum operating temperature at all times.

Mercedes-Benz EQS
Mercedes-Benz offers a 10-year or 250,000 kilometer warranty on the battery.

Speaking of charging, the Mercedes-Benz EQS will feature a 22 kW on-board charger for home use. At DC (direct current) fast charging stations, the German top-of-the-range will be able to charge up to a power of 200 kW.

In this scenario and according to Mercedes-Benz, in just 15 minutes it will be possible to restore 300 km of autonomy in units equipped with the largest battery. Interestingly, in Japan, the EQS will be able to “return” energy to the power grid.

And the potency?

In addition to revealing the numbers relating to the EQS's batteries and autonomy, Mercedes-Benz also took the opportunity to make known the first power values of its new top-of-the-range electric range.

Two versions will be available for now, one with rear-wheel drive and only one engine (EQS 450+) and the other with all-wheel drive and two engines (EQS 580 4MATIC). For later, an even more powerful sports version is expected.

The “Plug & Charge” system facilitates charging, in some cases (such as in the IONITY network) connecting the car to the charger for charging to start automatically, with payment occurring automatically and without cards.

Starting with the EQS 450+, it has 333 hp (245 kW) and 568 Nm, with consumption between 16 kWh/100 km and 19.1 kWh/100 km.

The more powerful EQS 580 4MATIC delivers 523 hp (385 kW), courtesy of a 255 kW (347 hp) engine at the rear and a 135 kW (184 hp) engine at the front. As for consumption, these range between 15.7 kWh/100 km and 20.4 kWh/100 km.

Mercedes-Benz EQS
At the moment, the interior was the only part of the EQS that we could see without camouflage.

As for performance, for now Mercedes-Benz has limited itself to revealing the maximum speed, which, regardless of the version, is limited to 210 km/h.

There are many ways to save energy

As might be expected, the estimated range of up to 770 km is not achieved solely on the basis of generous battery capacity.

So, to help the EQS “stretch its autonomy”, Mercedes-Benz has endowed it with an energy regeneration system with several modes whose intensity can be adjusted through two paddles placed behind the steering wheel and which is able to recover even 290 kW of energy.

In addition to all this, we also have an aerodynamic coefficient of just 0.20, a reference value that makes the Mercedes-Benz EQS the most aerodynamic production model in the world. Among the details that allow you to “cut the air” are the retractable handles or the aerodynamically designed wheels.
