This Porsche Carrera GT is only 179 km long and could be yours

Finding a rare supercar for sale is hard enough, what about when it has only 179 km (111 miles) covered in about 13 years? It's practically impossible, but the Porsche Carrera GT that we speak to you today is living proof that nothing is impossible.

In all, only 1270 units of the German super sports car were produced, and this practically untouched unit from 2005 is for sale on the Auto Hebdo website.

Unfortunately, the ad doesn't offer much information, just stating that the car is in “museum state” and looking at the photographs, it really looks immaculate. Given the rarity of the model, the excellent condition in which it is presented and the very low mileage it has covered, it is no wonder that the price of this rare Porsche Carrera GT is 1 599 995 dollars (about 1 million and 400 thousand euros).

The Porsche Carrera GT

Introduced in 2003 (the concept that preceded it dates back to 2000), the Porsche Carrera GT was produced until 2006.

Bringing the Carrera GT to life was a fantastic, naturally aspirated 5.7 l V10 that delivered 612 hp at 8000 rpm and 590 Nm of torque that came with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Weighing in at just 1380 kg, it's no wonder the Porsche Carrera GT reached 100 km/h in just 3.6s and 200 km/h in less than 10s, all to climb to a top speed of 330 km /H.

To get behind the wheel of this Carrera GT you'll have to pay around 1 million and 400 thousand euros.

The history of the Porsche Carrera GT is one that any petrolhead will fall in love with. Its V10 engine was originally developed for Formula 1, to be used by Footwork, but ended up in the drawer for seven years.

It would be recovered to serve in a prototype for Le Mans, the 9R3 — the successor to the 911 GT1 — but that project would never see the light of day, due to the need to divert resources to the development of the… Cayenne.

But it was thanks to the Cayenne's success that Porsche eventually gave the green light to its engineers to develop the Carrera GT and finally put a use to the V10 engine they had started to develop in 1992.
