Almost everything has been said about the MAT Stratos , the possible and fantastic reinterpretation of the Lancia Stratos, an icon of rallying… and of car design.
Underneath the evocative lines of the MAT Stratos we find a shortened version of the chassis of the Ferrari F430 or 430 Scuderia. Like the original Stratos, the engine is located behind the back (now longitudinally rather than transversely) and also comes from the sporty rampant horse brand.
It's not a V6, but a revised version of the 4.3 atmospheric V8 of the F430/430 Scuderia that now debits 540 hp, and better, it can also be coupled to a manual gearbox.
The body is in carbon fiber and the interior is spartan, which helps justify the 50 kg less than the 430 Scuderia it was originally based on — the MAT Stratos has all the ingredients to be even better than the donor, a sports car. even today unanimously revered.
With a production limited to 25 units at 750 thousand euros each — indicative value, given the level of customization present in each one of them —, the first unit produced and delivered to a customer now appears on the auction circuit.
The auction of the first MAT Stratos is being organized by Bonhams and takes place on February 6th in Paris, France.

MAT Stratos, the first
The first MAT Stratos is based on a 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia, which at the time of the transformation recorded approximately 30,000 kilometers on the odometer. It was completed in 2019 and the first registration took place on March 25 of the same year, with German registration.
Since the conversion, this MAT Stratos has covered 3000 km and stands out for its decoration, evoking the colors of Alitalia, as the original Lancia Stratos once had. Despite the possibility of having a manual gearbox, the first MAT Stratos comes with the semi-automatic gearbox of the 430 Scuderia.
The value expected by Bonhams for the acquisition of such an exclusive and evocative machine? 700 thousand to 900 thousand euros.
