Escape from images. This is the new BMW 8 Series Convertible

Anonim

We were just supposed to get to know the BMW 8 Series Convertible at its official presentation at the Los Angeles Motor Show (where Reason Automobile will be). However, as with the new BMW 3 Series, the 8 Series Convertible also appeared on the internet before being officially unveiled.

The images were released by the Belgian website Autotijd and show the top version, the M850i. Although there is no data available for the convertible version, we know that in the coupé the 4.4l twin-turbo V8 used in the M850i delivers 530hp and 750Nm of torque.

In the coupé, this engine allows you to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7s and reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h. That said, it is to be expected that the values of power and torque in the Convertible are equal, and the performance must suffer with the possible increase in weight of the version without hood.

Diesel on the way too?

Despite not appearing in the images, it is likely that BMW will also decide to offer the convertible version with the Diesel engine. The base version of the German model, the 840d, uses a 3.0 l diesel inline six cylinder that delivers 320 hp of power and 680 Nm of torque.

In the coupé, the Diesel engine allows to fulfill 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9s and takes the BMW up to 250 km/h of maximum speed, with an advertised average consumption of 5.9 l/100 km. As with the M850i, performance and consumption are likely to change.

BMW 8 Series Convertible

BMW has obviously not yet released prices for the BMW 8 Series Convertible, however, they should increase compared to the 130 thousand euros requested for the 840d and the 148,000 euros that the M850i costs. Scheduled for release in Los Angeles, it will be necessary to wait until the North American event to find out more about this proposal.
