BMW 7 Series renewed debut double kidney… XXL

Anonim

It's impossible to look away. The new double kidney of the renewed BMW 7 Series , made in a single piece, is simply massive, with the German brand announcing that they grew 40% compared to the predecessor.

The visual approach to the X7, the brand's largest SUV, is notorious, with the two models taking the lead in the brand's strategy of pursuing a higher position, also adopting a more… imposing and formal style.

Undoubtedly, the front is imposing, having received more alterations in this direction besides the double giant kidney. The front is now 50mm taller at its furthest point. , making it more vertical and, according to the brand, possessing a “more powerful visual presence”.

Interestingly, the expressive growth of the double kidney was not accompanied by the headlamps (LED as standard) that are narrower. Solution also seen on the rear — also quite altered — with the optics (OLED) losing 35 mm in height, which also sees the addition of a thin LED bar across its entire width, positioned below the previously existing chrome strip.

more refinement

It's not common for BMW to so profoundly alter the styling of its models in these mid-market upgrades, but the makeover wasn't just about looks. The side windows, in laminated glass, are now 5.1 mm thick (Standard or optional, depending on the version) to better acoustically insulate the interior. It was looking for that superior soundproofing that also led BMW to optimize the rear wheel arches, the B-pillar and even the rear seat belts.

Inside, the changes are more subtle, summed up, in addition to new materials and interior decoration, to the multifunction steering wheel with a new layout of its controls, the repositioning of the wireless charging system for the mobile phone and the addition of the latest version of the BMW Touch Command for rear occupants (version 7.0).

Optionally, the rear occupants now have at their disposal an entertainment system consisting of a pair of 10″ full-HD touch screens, with a Blu-ray player.

Engines in compliance

As was the case, the revamped BMW 7 Series comes with several petrol and diesel engines, with these now all complying with the strictest Euro 6d-TEMP standard.

BMW 7 Series 2019

In descending order, we start with the engine present in the M760Li xDrive , the well-known 6.6 l twin-turbo V12, which is equipped with a particle filter, delivers 585 hp and 850 Nm, capable of launching the nearly 2.3 t of the M760Li xDrive up to 100 km/h in measly 3.8s for a maximum speed of 305 km/h, if we release it from the electronic ties, made possible by the optional M Driver's Package.

The 4.4 l twin-turbo V8 on the 750i xDrive gains 80 hp compared to the predecessor, now presenting itself with 530 hp and 750 Nm, reaching 100 km/h in four seconds right (4.1 for the 750Li).

In Diesel, we find three engines, 730d xDrive, 740d xDrive and 750d xDrive — also available in the long body, with the 730d still available with rear wheel drive only. All of them use the in-line six-cylinder block with 3.0 l capacity, with different levels of power and torque: 265 hp and 620 Nm, 320 hp and 680 Nm and 400 hp and 760 Nm, respectively.

Highlight for the more powerful Diesel variant, which makes use of four sequential turbos — two low pressure and two high pressure. The 740d makes use of a pair of sequential turbos, while the 730d uses just one turbo.

Finally, we have the plug-in hybrid, in the version 745e, 745Le and 745Le xDrive . This version matches the 3.0 l block and six cylinders in line with gasoline, with 286 hp with a 113 hp electric motor, totaling 394 hp and 600 Nm, ensuring 5.2 s from 0 to 100 km/h and a maximum electric autonomy between 54 km and the 58 km.

All engines, including the plug-in hybrid, are coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
