In the year it celebrates 100 years of existence, Citroën has to reveal its vision of the car of the future. First, it did so with the small Ami One, a “cube” with wheels that makes symmetry an argument and which is, for the French brand, the future of urban mobility.
Now he decided it was time to reveal his vision for the future of long-distance travel. Designated 19_19 Concept , the prototype owes its name to the year the brand was founded, and presents itself as a vision of the electric and autonomous cars of the future intended for longer trips.
With a design that was inspired by aviation and whose main concern was aerodynamic efficiency, the 19_19 Concept does not go unnoticed, with the cabin appearing to be suspended above the huge 30”-inch wheels. As for the presentation to the public, this is reserved for the 16th of May at VivaTech, in Paris.
autonomous and… fast
Like the vast majority of prototypes that brands have been presenting lately, too the 19_19 Concept is able to drive autonomously . Even so, this one didn't give up the steering wheel or the pedals, making it possible for the driver to take control whenever he wants.

Equipped with two electric motors (which offer all-wheel drive) capable of delivering 462 hp (340 kW) and 800 Nm of torque, the 19_19 Concept accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5s and reaches a maximum speed of 200 km/h.
Powering the two engines is a battery pack with a capacity of 100 kWh, which allows an autonomy of 800 km (already in accordance with the WLTP cycle). These, in just 20 minutes, can recover 595 km of autonomy through a quick charging process and can also be recharged through an induction charging system.
All-round comfort
Despite its futuristic look, the 19_19 Concept has not neglected Citroën's values, even using one of them as a brand image. We speak, of course, of comfort.
Created with the aim of “reinventing long car journeys, outlining an ultra-comfort approach, bringing regenerative and restorative journeys to occupants”, the 19_19 Concept comes with a new and modified version of the progressive hydraulic suspension suspension we already know from the C5 Aircross.
According to Xavier Peugeot, Product Director at Citroën, through the prototype now presented, the French brand “projects into the future two of its main genes (…) bold design and 21st century comfort”.
