Renault Espace renewed itself. What's new?

Anonim

Launched in 2015, the fifth (and current) generation of the Renault Space is another chapter in a story whose origins date back to 1984 and which has already resulted in about 1.3 million units sold.

Now, to ensure that Espace remains competitive in a market dominated by SUV/Crossover, Renault decided it was time to offer its top-of-the-range a makeover.

So, from aesthetic touches to a technological boost, you will find out everything that has changed in the renewed Renault Espace.

What has changed abroad?

Truth be told, little thing. At the front, the big news are the Matrix Vision LED headlamps (a first for Renault). In addition to these, there are also very discreet touches that translate into a redesigned bumper, an increase in the number of chrome and a new lower grille.

At the rear, the renewed Espace received tail lights with a revised LED signature and a redesigned bumper. Also in the aesthetic chapter, Espace received new wheels.

What has changed inside?

Unlike what happens on the outside, it's easier to detect new developments inside the renewed Renault Espace. To start with, the floating center console was redesigned and now has a new closed storage space where not only the cup holders but also two USB ports appear.

The redesigned center console now has a new storage space.

Also inside Espace, the infotainment system now uses the Easy Connect interface, and has a 9.3” central screen in a vertical position (just like on the Clio). As you would expect, this is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems.

Since 2015, the Initiale Paris equipment level has attracted more than 60% of Renault Espace customers

As for the instrument panel, it became digital and uses a configurable 10.2” screen. Thanks to the Bose sound system, Renault has equipped Espace with what it defines as five acoustic environments: “Lounge”, “Surround”, “Studio”, Immersion” and “Drive”.

Technological news

At a technological level, Espace now has a series of new safety systems and driving assistance that offer you level 2 autonomous driving.

Thus, Espace now has systems such as the “Rear Cross Traffic Alert”, “Active Emergency Braking System”, “Advanced Park Assist”, “Driver drowsiness detection”, “Blind Spot Warning”, “Lane Departure Warning” and “ Lane Keeping Assist” and “The Highway & Traffic Jam Companion” — translating for kids, assistants and alerts for everything and more, from automatic braking if you detect a collision risk, to automatic parking and lane maintenance, passing by driver fatigue alerts, or from vehicles positioned in the blind spot.

And the engines?

As far as engines are concerned, Espace continues to appear equipped with a gasoline option, the 1.8 TCe with 225 hp that is associated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and two Diesel: the 2.0 Blue dCi with 160 or 200 hp associated with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

As was the case until now, Espace will continue to be able to be equipped with the 4Control directional four-wheel system that comes with adaptive shock absorbers and three Multi-Sense system driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport).

When arrives?

Scheduled for arrival in the spring of next year, it is not yet known how much the renewed Renault Espace will cost or when it will arrive, precisely, at national stands.
