THE Honda Civic Type R it's that kind of car that practically needs no introduction. Three years after its launch, it remains one of the most desired (and effective) hot hatch on the market — it's still the target to shoot down — and seems immune to the passage of time.

However, Honda did not let itself sleep in the shade of the banana tree. Taking advantage of the renovation operated on the other Civics, the Japanese brand did the same in what until recently was the fastest front wheel drive on the Nürburgring.

Thus, the Civic Type R not only received aesthetic updates, as a technological reinforcement and even the chassis was not immune to revisions. The 2.0 l VTEC Turbo with 320 hp and 400 Nm remained unchanged, to the delight of fans of the Japanese model.

Shock absorbers have been revised for greater comfort, rear suspension bushings have been tightened to improve grip, and the front suspension has been revised to improve steering feel — promising…

In terms of the braking system, the Civic Type R received new bimaterial discs (lighter than the traditional ones, with benefits for reducing unsprung masses) and new brake pads. According to Honda, these changes allowed not only to reduce the fatigue of the braking system but also to improve its performance at high speed.

Finally, the sound, the most criticized aspect of the Civic Type R, remains unchanged, but not if you have it inside. Honda has added the Active Sound Control system, which changes the sound heard inside according to the chosen driving mode — yes, artificially generated sound…

It is not yet possible to move forward with the date for the beginning of the sale of the renewed Honda Civic Type R in Portugal or its price.
