For many, the use of a BMW engine in the new Toyota Supra can be considered a heresy. However, no one can accuse the 3.0L inline six-cylinder engine used by the BMW Z4 and BMW M340i of not sounding good.
In the most recent, and perhaps most interesting, teaser released by Toyota (the previous one was a photograph of the… car mirror), the Japanese brand offers us the possibility to listen to the new Toyota Supra while watching a blurry video where you can detect , albeit vaguely, the silhouette of the new Japanese sports car.
Regarding the engine that we had the opportunity to hear, there is still not much information, with Toyota only stating that the BMW engine will deliver more than 300 hp in the new Supra. To give you an idea, the same engine produces 340 hp in the BMW Z4 M40i, that's why we're counting on the Supra, at the very least, to offer the same level of power..
First Toyota Supra goes to auction
The destination for the first Toyota Supra unit to be produced was also announced. Thus, the first copy will be sold at an auction of the company Barrett-Jackson that will take place on January 19 in Scottsdale, Arizona, in the United States of America.
The first example of the Toyota Supra will feature a matte gray exterior and red rear-view mirrors. Inside, it will feature red leather seats and a carbon fiber logo confirming that it is the first unit.
The amount raised from the sale of the Toyota Supra will revert to two North American charities. However, the bidding base is not known.
