As we mentioned before, BMW is preparing to flood the market with its biggest model offensive in just two years. In the field of sportier proposals, in addition to the i8 Spyder, we are finally going to meet the successor of the Z4 roadster, which, contrary to what one would expect, will not be called the BMW Z5. In an interview with AutoGuide, the current manager of American markets at BMW assured that this will not be the name of the new roadster for the Bavarian brand:

“There will be a sports car, yes, but it won't be a Z5. This is something someone invented.” […] The new model will be called Z … probably 4″

The successor to the BMW Z4, which is now reaching the end of its lifecycle, will be the result of a joint venture between BMW and Toyota, and will therefore share the platform with the next Supra.
