Expansion. The Indian market is Citroën's next target

Inserted in the 2nd phase of the “Push to Pass” plan presented by Carlos Tavares, CEO of PSA in February, Citroën's entry into the Indian market was presented by Linda Jackson, the brand's general manager, at a press conference that took place today in Chennai, India.

An integral part of Citroën's internationalization strategy, the arrival in India will translate into a range of models with an international vocation, with the first to be launched by the end of 2021. However, for 2020, the SUV market is expected to arrive C5 Aircross.

According to Linda Jackson, CEO of Citroën, “Launching a brand in a new market the size of India is a unique and passionate experience”. Linda Jackson also added that Citroën has “all the means to be 'Indians in India', both industrially, through the two local 'joint-ventures', and in the field of product offering”.

The first model that Citroën will sell in the Indian market is the C5 Aircross. This one is scheduled to arrive in 2020.

New models for new markets

To better face the internationalization process, Citroën will debut on the Indian market a range of new models with an international vocation. Inserted within the scope of the PSA Group's Core Model Strategy, these should reach the market with a cadence of one per year from 2021.

The program in which they are inserted is called “C Cubed” and the letter C refers to: Cool, in reference to the design of the Citroën models; Comfort, a reference to the typical comfort of the models of the French brand; and Clever, referring to the “intelligence of design and the high level of local incorporation, in order to respond accurately to market expectations.

After their debut on the Indian market, these new models of an international character should be made available in other regions of the globe, and it is not yet known which ones they will be.
