For the 6th consecutive year, the Volkswagen Amarok models will be at the service of the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN) to make Portuguese beaches safer.

Created in 2011, the “Sea Watch” project is the result of a partnership between ISN, SIVA and Volkswagen Dealers, and aims to promote safety on the beaches of Portugal. This successful collaboration was recently recognized at the 2016 SIVA Excellence Program Gala, with the Social Responsibility Award.

The off-road capabilities, high reliability and low consumption of the Volkswagen Amarok have been some of the advantages identified by operators over the German model.

In addition to these advantages, the Volkswagen Amarok is adapted to the needs of the rescue service with a transformation developed in Portugal by SIVA, which includes supports for emergency equipment, rescue boards and stretchers, as well as emergency lights. Vehicle maintenance and assistance throughout the country is provided by the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle dealer network.

In 2015, the “Sea Watch” project enabled the rescue of 595 holidaymakers, carrying out 742 first aid assistance (including the birth of Maria do Mar on the Costa de Caparica beach) and 62 successful searches for lost children.
