KITT is going to auction?! Dear Santa Claus…

Knight Rider, or in Portuguese, “O Justiceiro”, marked the childhood or adolescence of many of us, whether the original version or the replacement, folded into a very unsatisfactory Brazilian. The reason? Knight Industries Two Thousand, better known as KITT.

Yes, it certainly wasn't because of the quality of the series or the performances of mr. Hasssellhoff and company, but for that super black Pontiac Firebird with more personality than many of the characters that have passed through the series.

Practically indestructible, with a mighty Turbo Boost capable of making you jump over any obstacle and with a Super-Pursuit mode, the truth is that the child in us still yearns for KITT. And behold, the opportunity now arises.

This copy is not part of the ones built for the television series — there are apparently five of the 19-20 built for the series — but this replica to be auctioned by Silverstone Auctions on November 9th seems to be quite a lot faithful to the KITT we saw on the small screen.

Purchased in Miami, Florida, USA, from CH Auto Corporation — specializing in Pontiac Firebird Trans Am — and brought to the UK in February 2016, this replica is based on a 5.7 l (V8) Pontiac Firebird (V8) 1983 with four-speed automatic transmission.

The auctioneer estimates a sale price of between 15 000 and 20 000 pounds (17 415 and 23 220 euros), noting that “this” KITT is not able to circulate on public roads because he is not registered (in the United Kingdom), but giving to understand that this is possible if the future owner changes it so that it can pass inspection.

The Silverstone Auctions auction is part of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, which opens its doors tomorrow and continues through the weekend, the largest classic event in the United Kingdom, taking place at the NEC (National Exhibition Center) in Birmingham.
