Say goodbye to the Jaguar XE and XF petrol V6s

Last week we announced the arrival of the four-cylinder, 2.0 liter turbo, 300 hp Ingenium engine at Jaguar XE and XF . But the new addition to the respective ranges will also have the mission to replace, as far as possible, the 3.0 V6 Supercharged (compressor) that equips the S versions.

The Jaguar XE S and XF S extract from the V6 that equips them about 380 hp — much more than the 300 of the new 300 Sport — but according to the British brand in statements to Autocar, only 2 to 3% of the sales of the two models match this engine in the UK.

It's not just the low sales that justify the end of the V6. The WLTP, the new consumption and emissions certification test that takes effect on September 1st, is also behind this decision. So the cost of changing the engine to make it compliant is simply not worth it, given the small sales volume it represents.

If for now, only the end of the V6 is confirmed only in the Jaguar XE and XF, it is to be expected that the same measure is also extended to the F-Pace and XJ. However, the F-Type, the brand's only current sports car, should keep it, despite having been the first to come equipped with the 300 hp four-cylinder.

The end of V6, however, should only be limited, above all, to the European continent. In the US, which has its own consumption and emissions certification procedures, the V6 Supercharged will continue to be part of the XE and XF ranges.
