1000 forgotten classics in a Swedish forest

For more than 30 years, two Swedish brothers managed a scrap metal that they founded in the 50's, with the purpose of commercializing the parts of vehicles abandoned by American soldiers after the Second World War. Because of this sad chapter in world history, these brothers managed to gather more than 1000 vehicles in a forestry area , located in the province of Båstnäs, in a small mining town in southern Sweden.

This was the business of these brothers until the 80's, roughly. In the early 90's, the two brothers ended up changing their air, leaving the 1000 classics present in the scrap metal to be abandoned. But there are more stories like these, check out this mega-scrap in Russia.

After so many years, the forest found a way to absorb them. Now, new life sprouts through the rust deposited on their steel bodies.

The discovery is the responsibility of a group of explorers, including the 54-year-old photographer Sevein Nordrum. Nordrum, upon discovery, came across an incredible view of trees growing through the cars, in a symbiosis between cars and nature. For Nordrum, the desolate view contrasted with the feeling of stillness of the forest, in a beauty that unfortunately the camera cannot convey in its entirety.

The forest is so dense that you can only see a part of the abandoned classics, including models by Opel, Volkswagen, Ford, Volvo, Buick, Audi, Saab and Sunbeam.

The 1000 classics that have been resting for so long are now a haven for wildlife. Mainly for birds, which ended up nesting in its interiors. In view of this, a group of environmental activists has prevented the removal of these classics forgotten in time and which already deserved a second chance, don't you think?
