Unveiled in 2014, the Lamborghini Huracán thus continues the success achieved by what was one of the most successful models at Casa de Sant’Agata Bolognese, the Gallardo. And which, moreover, came to replace.

As for the 10,000 unit of the Huracán, which the manufacturer insisted on photographing together with the workers on the production line, it is a Performante, the most powerful version of the model. Wears an impressive Verde Mantis, alongside the V10 5.2 liters delivering 640 hp and 600 Nm of torque . Arguments that allow you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, as well as reach a top speed of 325 km/h.

The successor to Huracán is already discussed

Although the end of the Huracán's life is not yet on the horizon, news from Sant’Agata Bolognese already speaks of a possible successor to the model. With the technical director of Lamborghini, Maurizio Reggiani, assuring, in statements to Car and Driver, regarding the V10, that it will continue to be a cornerstone in the successor of the Huracán.

Why would we trade it for something different? Our confidence in the naturally aspirated engine remains complete, so why downgrade to a V8 or a V6?

Maurizio Regianni, Lamborghini Technical Director

Although the same person in charge does not officially admit the possibility that the V10 will have some form of electrification, it seems to be a reality — it is necessary to reduce consumption and lower emissions. — The partial electrification won't exactly come as a surprise, especially after the news that the Aventador's successor may also adopt hybrid propulsion.

2WD mode on a 4WD?

Still on the future, Reggiani recalled that "Lamborghini is a slave to the wishes of its customers", so it will continue to offer all-wheel and rear-wheel drive solutions. Don't expect to see a system similar to the Mercedes-AMG E63 or the new BMW M5, both with four-wheel drive, but which allow you to decouple the front axle, transforming them into two-wheel drive cars.

In his opinion, installing a system that allows switching between permanent all-wheel drive and rear-only drive, by simply pressing a button, not only increases the weight of the set, but in two-wheel drive mode, we carry extra ballast unnecessarily.

Plus, the suspension continues to be optimized for all-wheel drive, even when the rear-only drive mode is engaged. Basically, “it's too big a commitment, and it's not the best solution we can offer. As such, for us, this is not an option.”
