Audi R8 V10 RWS, the most fun ever?

Anonim

Among the loudest debuts at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show (we're talking about this one in particular) is a more timid but equally exciting one: the Audi R8 V10 RWS.

A 2nd generation Audi R8 like so many others – beautiful and performing – but with great news. For the first time in the history of this model, there is a rear-wheel-only version.

Limited production

The production of the Audi R8 V10 RWS is limited to 999 units, and there should be no shortage of buyers. It is a historic model for the brand and could be the first sign of a paradigm shift at Audi, as we explained at the end of this article.

Similar to the other versions, the Audi R8 V10 RWS also uses the 5.2 FSI V10 engine with 547 hp. The big news is even the absence of the quattro system and the 50 kg reduction in weight that this absence meant in the total weight of the set.

"Invisible" changes

Audi Sport didn't just remove the quattro system from the Audi R8 V10 RWS. The changes went deeper.

The brand's engineers operated several adjustments to the chassis and electronic stability systems of the model. These changes were mainly aimed at increasing the reliability and predictability of the rear axle. Objective? Make this Audi R8 V10 RWS one of the most fun to drive.

more fun less performance

Despite the weight loss, the absence of the quattro system is felt during accelerations. The Audi R8 V10 RWS takes 0.2 seconds longer from 0-100 km/h than the V10 Plus version, fulfilling this record in 3.7 seconds. In terms of top speed there was no change, remaining at 320 km/h.
