Potter & Rich, the London preparer, decided to produce the most drastic and radical upgrade we know of for the first generation Audi R8. The Audi R8 abandons the family name and adopts the name RECON MC8. But this name change turns out to be the least dramatic change of all.
The RECON MC8 assumes itself as a racing car with 'lights and license plate', which is to say, it can walk on public roads, go to the super market, and melt tires at the nearest racetrack, dispensing with the services of a trailer - at our case Estoril. But a road trip to Spa Francorchamp, for example, is not out of the question… This freedom is the strong point of the RECON MC8.
The quattro system was replaced by a rear-wheel drive system with a Drexler differential, thus reducing the weight of the package and ensuring a more equitable mass distribution. The 5.2 liter V10 engine was also extensively prepared. It received several internal parts – such as competition pistons – and a high-output volumetric compressor. The numbers couldn't be more forceful: 950hp of power and 900Nm of maximum torque. To multiply all this force in speed, Potter & Rich turned to a seven-speed reinforced double-clutch gearbox.

To keep up with the performance it is imperative to have a look to match. All body panels on the RECON MC8 are made from carbon and try to recreate the proportions of the ultra racing Audi R8 LMS, resulting in less weight and more aerodynamic load. Inside, the interior is entirely lined with Alcantara and maintains all the comfort equipment (radio, a/c, cruise-control, etc.) that we know from the 'normal' Audi R8.
