The latest rumors suggest the implementation of Porsche's new 2.9-litre V6 engine in four new Audi models, including the second generation R8.

According to sources close to the brand, Audi is already jointly developing with Porsche a replacement for the 4.0 liter V8 block of the first generation Audi R8, which will have been discontinued due to the high costs necessary to comply with emission regulations in certain markets .

Apparently, the bet could fall on the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that equips the most powerful version of the new Porsche Panamera, with 440 hp and 550 Nm of maximum torque, available between 1,750 and 5,500 rpm. The Panamera 4S takes 4.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h (4.2 with the Pack Sport Chrono) and reaches a maximum speed of 289 km/h.

This V6 engine, which can also be used in the Audi RS4, RS5 and Q5 RS, will have various power levels and everything indicates that it can exceed 500 hp and 670 Nm in the Audi R8. It remains for us to wait for the official confirmation of the German brand.
