Ferrari. Electric supersports, only after 2022

Anonim

At a time when virtually all manufacturers are starting to embrace electric mobility, proposing new zero-emission vehicles, the Ferrari refuses, for the time being, to take this path, before the strategic plan is concluded, the end of which is only scheduled for 2022.

After having stated, at the last Detroit Motor Show, that an electric vehicle could become part of the current product offensive, which started in 2018 and which will only be concluded within four years, Sergio Marchionne has now guaranteed, during Ferrari's annual meeting, last April 13, that a 100% electric vehicle is not relevant for the company at this time.

This is despite the 2017 annual report pointing out the risk of “electric cars becoming the dominant technology among super sports cars, even surpassing hybrid proposals”.

More electrified Ferraris on the way

Even so, the CEO of Ferrari, who is also Ferrari, recognizes that the manufacturer will have to electrify more models, and, at this time, the internal discussion is focused on the decision on which proposals may be electrified.

Indeed, Marchionne has already revealed that the first hybrid will appear during the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, although without specifying the model, but with strong possibilities of being the future SUV… or FUV of the brand.

So far, the manufacturer from Maranello has only provided two electrified models, the LaFerrari Coupé and the LaFerrari Aperta.

Formula E? No thank you!

However, despite admitting more electrified models, Marchionne does not see Ferrari, for example, joining Formula E. Since, he comments, "there are few people involved in Formula 1 participating in Formula E".
