BMW i8 Protonic Red to be unveiled in Geneva

BMW's electric sports car is already special, however, the Bavarian brand decided to raise the bar by presenting the limited edition Protonic Red. Only with changes to the interior and exterior aesthetic level, the BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition intends to stand out even more face-to-face to the rest of the range.

On the outside, the novelties include Protonic Red paint and various applications in Frozen Gray metallic tone, the 20-inch wheels in light alloy are painted in Aluminum Matte and Orbit Gray Metallic. Moving on to the interior, we find several applications in carbon fiber and ceramic, from the door handles to the dashboard and center console. The seats have “i8” engraved headrests and red seams, which also extend to the dashboard and rugs.

In terms of engine, there are no differences in this special edition. The 1.5 TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder block with 231 horsepower and 320nm of torque is accompanied by the 131 horsepower electric motor, producing a total combined power of 362 horsepower. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.4 seconds and the top speed is 250 km/h.

The BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition will be presented to the public at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and will see production start in July for a limited time. The first deliveries are planned for the month of September.
