From June 1st, the driving license for points takes effect. See how it will work.
The driving license for points gives drivers 12 initial points, which decrease with the offenses committed: a serious offense equals a loss of two points and if it is very serious, four points will be subtracted. When considered a road crime, offenders lose six points.When the driving license reaches four points, drivers are required to attend road training classes and, when they have only two points, they will have to take a new code exam.

When the points are exhausted, drivers do not have a driving license and are unable to get it again for two years. In these cases, offenders will have to attend a re-education and awareness course, in addition to the theoretical test. Driving under the influence of alcohol or psychotropic substances will have their own regimen. Three points are subtracted for offenses considered serious and five points for very serious ones.
It must be borne in mind that, despite the use of the points system, the fines system remains in force. In addition to the loss of points, drivers continue to pay fines, which vary depending on the seriousness of the infraction.
