Today is World Traffic Day and Free Wheel Courtesy

To mark this day, we highlight the importance of hearing while driving.

There is no doubt that those who drive regularly agree that while driving there are situations in which hearing can override vision, sometimes allowing us to avoid an accident. As today marks the World Day of Traffic and Courtesy to the Wheel, we decided to emphasize the importance of hearing in the identification of external stimuli, necessary for a correct analysis and decision-making by the driver.

Through the ear we perceive the sounds that surround us (a horn, the whistle of an agent, the emergency sirens of an ambulance, etc), we hear the noise of the car engine (to detect possible breakdowns in time) and we maintain our balance, that makes driving safer, without nausea or dizziness.

“The ear is a complement to vision while driving because, in addition to helping to locate stimuli in time and space, it maintains balance. Over the years, it is natural that the hearing ability deteriorates, preventing us from driving safely. That's why having hearing tests is so important, even if we think we don't have any problems, especially from 50 years old onwards. Keeping the vehicle in good condition is not enough to ensure our safety at the wheel. On the road, we too must be at 100%”.
