Are you going to make history like Carocha? We tested the Volkswagen ID.3 First Max (58 kWh)

Anonim

Synonymous with a new era at Volkswagen, the new Volkswagen ID.3 arrives on the market with big ambitions and a high responsibility on “the shoulders”.

After all, the new ID.3 establishes itself as the symbol of Volkswagen's big bet on the electrification of the car (represents an investment of 33 billion euros) and is assumed as the third unavoidable model in the history of the German brand, following in the footsteps of the iconic Carocha and Golf.

But will he have arguments to do justice to the great aspirations that befall him? Will it measure up to its historic predecessors? As there is only one way to discover it, Guilherme Costa put the Volkswagen ID.3 First Max (58 kWh) to the test in this video and, at the same time, “introduced him” to his grandfather, the Volkswagen Käfer Split (Carocha ) of 1951.

The ID.3 First Max (58 kWh)

In addition to being presented in the top-of-the-range version, the Max, the Volkswagen ID.3 that Guilherme tested was also a First Edition version, in other words, one of the first 90 copies of the Volkswagen electric model to come to Portugal. Aesthetically, this translates into the adoption of elements such as the 20” wheels, the panoramic roof or the Matrix LED headlamps.

As Guilherme tells us in the video, the use of the dedicated MEB platform ends up translating into a very good use of the interior space (which is practically at the level offered by the Passat) and into a luggage compartment (with 395 liters) that lost no space to accommodate the batteries.

Speaking of which, they have a capacity of 58 kWh (in the future there will be versions with 45 kWh and 77 kWh batteries), are water-cooled and allow an autonomy in a WLTP cycle of 420 km or 350 km in real conditions of use as you say. The Guilherme.

These power an electric motor with 204 hp and 310 Nm that allows the Volkswagen ID.3 First Max to reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h (electronically limited) and reach 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3s.

With the numbers of this Volkswagen ID.3 displayed, we leave you the video so you can get to know it better. As for the 1951 Volkswagen Käfer Split (Beetle) that keeps him company, let us know in the comments if you want to see it in one of our videos.
