Saab 9-3 is reborn again: the «zombie» of the automotive industry

Anonim

The Saab 9-3 risks entering the history of the modern automotive industry as the car that never “dies”. Let's say it's some kind of "zombie" on four wheels.

Saab has just presented (once more…) the Saab 9-3 Aero 2014. A modern example of longevity in the automotive industry, almost similar to that of some generalist models in emerging markets, such as the Volkswagen Kombi that ends its production this year.

We remember that in recent years, several times, they predicted the death of Saab, but the brand, against the best expectations, has survived. Not that we don't like this – quite the contrary… – but after so many “deaths” and “rebirths” to see the Saab 9-3 being presented again is almost anecdotal. A model that will remember, uses the platform of the 3rd generation of the Opel Vectra. A model launched more than a decade ago, in the already distant year of 2003.

Something that transforms this Saab 9-3 into a kind of «zombie» of the automobile industry, or, if you prefer, into a cat (it's nicer…) with its seven lives. Truth be told, the lines are still very current. In this new renaissance, as you can already see from the photos, everything is practically the same, except for the logo, derived from the purchase of Scania by the VW Group. Next year the brand intends to launch an all-electric version of the model. Marketing starts (once more…) this month in Sweden.
