How long can a car last without engine oil?

As we know, the friction generated between the various parts of the engine causes noise, heat and especially wear and tear on the parts. As such, lubrication of mechanical components is essential for the operation of any combustion engine.

But what happens if we remove all the oil from the engine and drive the car as if it were nothing? To answer this question, our Car Throttle colleagues sacrificed a Mercedes-Benz C-Class 180 1994 , with more than 300 thousand km in the legs, all for a good cause. Alex and company took the car to a closed circuit, completely removed the engine oil and put it to the test, as you can see in the video below:

After a few laps of the track, the inevitable happened. A small explosion and some of the parts of this 1.8 liter petrol engine ended up on the track after just over 17 minutes. If there were any doubts (which there weren't…), now we know what happens.
