Mystery Unveiled. The 488 "hardcore" will be called the Ferrari 488 Track

Anonim

Since the first 360 Challenge Stradale, the “hardcore” versions of Ferrari's V8 sports cars have been the most anticipated. The Ferrari 488 GTB is no exception — rumors already pointed to values of 700 hp of power and less weight —, now that the presentation date is approaching, the first concrete information emerges.

One of the secrets was precisely in the name of the version. Speciale? GTO? None of that… according to the images (result of an information leak), the new super sports car will be renamed Ferrari 488 Track.

Along with the name, new more concrete data emerge, to be confirmed, about the model's specifications, which point to a power of 721 hp extracted from the 3.9 liter V8 block and an expressive 770 Nm of torque.

In addition to a lower weight — rumored to be 1280 kg (dry weight), about 90 kg less than the 488 GTB — the images show various aerodynamic changes, which give it a more aggressive look and will certainly affect the values of downforce. There is a wider front spoiler and a more prominent rear diffuser.

At the rear you can finally see the name of the new model — Ferrari 488 Pista.

The model could be the most road-oriented Ferrari on the road ever produced by the manufacturer, and that is something that is very evident in the video that the brand has published on social networks.

This “spicier” version of the Ferrari 488 GTB, will be the direct rival of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, replacing the Ferrari 458 Speciale, however discontinued.

An extensive list of carbon fiber parts is expected to contribute to the reduction in weight, including the 20-inch wheels — these alone mean a 40% weight reduction compared to the wheels of the 488 GTB model — which should come mounted on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. It is even speculated that the ceramic brakes are lighter than those of the GTB.

Ferrari 488 Runway — interior

As is tradition, everything indicates that everything unnecessary inside can be removed, and even the glass can be thinner.

In principle, we want to believe that we will be able to meet the Ferrari 488 Pista “in person” in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
