Aston Martin confirms not one, but two mid-engine rear supersports

After the focused and exclusive Valkyrie, Aston Martin thus continues on the path of supersports, this time with a model that is known internally as "the brother of the Valkyrie". And that, once it reaches the market, supposedly in 2021, it should be around 1.2 million euros.

Confirmation of the existence of this new project was given by the CEO of Aston Martin, Andy Palmer, in statements to the also British Autocar. This, at a time when both Ferrari and McLaren are also preparing the respective successors of LaFerrari and McLaren P1.

It's true, we have more than one project with a central (rear) engine underway; more than two if you count the Valkyrie. This new project will have all the know-how gained from the Valkyrie, as well as some of its visual identity and engineering capacity, and will enter a new market segment.

Ferrari 488 rival also in the pipeline

Meanwhile, alongside this more “accessible” Valkyrie, Aston Martin confirms yet another engine sports car in a central rear position, to face the Ferrari 488.

It remains to be seen, however, whether this model will share with the “Brother of Valkyrie” something more than aesthetic language. Although everything points to the two cars using the same carbon monocoque with aluminum sub-frames.

According to Palmer, there are arguments that the McLaren 720S is the best car to drive, but the choice of the Ferrari 488 as the main reference is because it is the most desirable “package” — from its impressive dynamics to its design — so it became a goal to make all Aston Martins the most desirable in their class.

Like the “brother of the Valkyrie”, he also has a scheduled presentation date for 2021.

Partnership between Aston Martin and Red Bull F1 is to continue

The confirmation now advanced also reveals that Aston Martin and Red Bull F1 will continue to work together on several other road car projects.

We are developing very deep roots with Red Bull. They will also form the basis of what will become known as our 'Performance Design and Engineering Centre', which gives a very accurate idea of the type of projects we intend to develop in this new infrastructure. The best indicator of our intentions is, perhaps, the fact that our headquarters are next to Adrian's.
