Cold Start. Geely uses drones to deliver car keys to customers

That's right. The car is delivered to the customer's doorstep and the key is delivered by drone . It was Geely's solution to circumventing people's natural fears of the coronavirus, which has driven them away from booths — the Chinese car market took a precipitous drop in February, and March promises improvements, but not much.

This home delivery service complements the brand's new online sales service. For now, it's only available in a few locations and limited to just one model, the recently launched Geely Icon, with the brand ensuring “the distance between employees and consumers, creating a truly contactless process”.

The car is transported by trailer to the customer's home, not before it has been disinfected inside and out, and the key is delivered by drone, which can be left either at the door of the house, or… on the balcony of a building.

Geely claims that it has received more than 10,000 paid orders through its online sales service. All confirmed orders are forwarded to local distributors, who are responsible for the home delivery process of the new vehicle.
