After eight years of commercialization, the Skoda Yeti finally met a successor. Of the Yeti there is nothing left, not even the name. The Yeti designation gave way to the Karoq name, and the bodywork takes on the shapes of a true SUV.

In aesthetic terms, the Czech SUV clearly comes close to the recently launched Kodiaq, differentiated from it by its more compact dimensions: 4 382 mm in length, 1 841 mm in width, 1 605 mm in height, and 2 638 mm in distance between axles (2 630 mm in the all-wheel drive version).

At the front, one of the novelties is the new design of the LED optics – available from the Ambition equipment level onwards. The rear light groups, with the traditional “C”-shaped design, also use LED technology.

Inside, the new Karoq has the privilege of debuting Skoda's first digital instrument panel, which can be customized to the driver's preferences, not forgetting the touchscreen with the second generation in the center console.

The Skoda Karoq has 521 liters of luggage capacity – 1,630 liters with the seats folded down and 1,810 liters with the seats removed.

Like “Kodiaq”, this name derives from a dialect of the indigenous people of Alaska and results from the combination of “Kaa’raq” (car) and “ruq” (arrow).

As for the range of engines, the Karoq debuts two new Diesel engines and many others that run on gasoline. The SUV is available with blocks 1.0 TSI (115 hp and 175 Nm), 1.5 TSI (150 hp and 250 Nm), 1.6 TDI (115 hp and 250 Nm), 2.0 TDI (150 hp and 340 Nm) and 2.0 TDI ( 190 hp and 400 Nm).

The more powerful version is equipped as standard with a seven-speed DSG gear (instead of the six-speed manual gearbox) and an all-wheel-drive system with five driving modes.

The Skoda Karoq hits European markets before the end of the year, with prices still to be revealed.
