Look at the Volkswagen T-Roc as an SUV version of the Golf. So what about Tiguan? In this second generation Tiguan was promoted. Due to the increase in the exterior and interior dimensions, the Tiguan is now closer to the Passat than to the Golf.
Thanks to these changes, Volkswagen managed to gain space in its range for the addition of one more model. In 2019, another SUV is expected to be launched, smaller based on the Polo.
Three years after the presentation of the first concept, we preview the production model that, as you know, will be manufactured at Autoeuropa, Palmela.
1 | What will the Volkswagen T-Roc look like?
The starting point is the same as the Volkswagen Golf, we are talking about the well-known MQB platform. As for the design, the inspiring muse will be the concept car presented three years ago (in the images). Naturally, the three-door bodywork with a “targa” roof will be replaced by a more “traditional” 5-door version with a fixed roof.
From the T-Roc Concept, the production version should maintain the shapes of the front section, particularly the honeycomb grille, the rear section with sharp lines and the roof in shades darker than the bodywork.
In the cabin, the German brand suggests that its next SUV will be guided by the interior space – the prototype being tested has 412 liters of luggage capacity. In aesthetic and technological terms, it should resort to the solutions adopted in the renewed Golf.
2 | When does it hit the market?
The German brand confirmed the presentation of the T-Roc for the Frankfurt Motor Show , already in September. The arrival on the market is scheduled for the last quarter of this year.3 | What are the main competitors?
Taking into account the 4.23 m long, 1.82 m width and 1.54 m height of the test prototypes, the production version of the Volkswagen T-Roc is smaller than the SEAT Ateca and the Volkswagen Tiguan. In terms of volume it will be similar to the Audi Q2. Even so, the Volkswagen T-Roc assumes itself as a C-segment SUV.
4 | And the range of engines?
As you would expect, the new T-Roc will use the engines we already know from the Golf range. A range of engines consisting of three petrol and two diesel options is expected. To know: 1.0 TSI 115 hp, 1.5 TSI 150 hp, 2.0 TSI 190 hp, 1.6 TDI 115 hp and finally the 2.0 TDI of 150 hp.5 | How much will it cost?
The 1 million euros question. Or better… 27 thousand euros . This is the estimated entry price (gasoline) for the Volkswagen T-Roc, which can go up to 42 thousand euros in the 2.0 TSI version with 190 hp of power. On the Diesel offer side, the SUV should be available from 30,000 euros.
