Two years ago Subaru launched a special edition WRX STI, the S207. After these years, the Japanese brand decided to spice up its all-wheel-drive sports saloon with the flavor of “Mundial de Ralis” again.
The new S208 will be limited to 450 units and will be marketed only in Japan – not that it makes much difference to the Portuguese, because as you know, Subaru has not had a representative in Portugal for a long time.
I don't know, let's be fooled by the slightly different exterior of the conventional versions. There's more magic hidden in this Subaru WRX STI S208. Namely under the hood. We recall that the previous S207, equipped with the 2.5 turbo boxer engine delivered 325 hp and 431 Nm of torque. The most likely is that in this version these (already interesting) values gain a new expression.
But because power isn't everything, and lightness counts for a lot – as we saw in the recently unveiled Opel Insignia GSi – the roof in this version becomes carbon. Not only to lower weight but also the center of gravity.
There is more. Subaru asked STI to tune the suspension and electronics to further improve the dynamic handling. That said, we were left with some healthy envy of our friends from the land of the “rising sun”.
