How to turn the Citroën Jumper into the iconic «Type H»

Anonim

When it introduced the Type H in 1947, Citroën would have been far from predicting the success and impressive longevity of this model – especially during the difficult post-war period.

“Your secret? A particularly innovative design for a utility vehicle of the time. The steel chassis and front transmission spanned several decades. Great efficiency in all forms of use and their variations”.

Also known as “TUB”, the name of its predecessor, the Type H would be produced until 1981, with 473 289 units, year in which it was replaced by the more modern Citroën C25. But the Type H continues to fill the imagination of many enthusiasts around the world, especially in the «old continent».

GLORIES OF THE PAST: The Man Who Turned a Citroën 2CV into a Motorbike to Survive

This is the case of Fabrizio Caselani and David Obendorfer. To mark the 70th anniversary of the Citroën Type H, this duo decided to recreate the Type H using the latest Citroën Jumper. Through a simple bodykit, it is possible to recreate the original design by Flaminio Bertoni.

70 years, 70 units

Instead of the 52 hp engine of the original model – with consumption that could exceed 20 l/100 km (!) – this modern version uses the more economical 2.0 e-HDI of the Citroën Jumper, with powers ranging between 110 and 100 160 hp of power.

As for the bodywork variants, the Type H 2017 remains faithful to the original and will be offered in different versions, from the motorhome to the food sales van. Only 70 kits will be produced, through the manufacturer FC Automobili. The entire transformation of the Jumpers will be done by hand in Italy, and the sale of the car will be limited to the country's borders.
