Toyota Takes Small Hybrid, All-Wheel-Drive SUV to Geneva

Anonim

The Geneva Motor Show is approaching with great strides and several brands are starting to “open the game” about the news that will take them there — Toyota is one of them. And among some already known news, but not yet publicly presented, there is an absolute first: a new one is coming Toyota B-SUV.

B-SUV is obviously not the definitive name for the new model, but it makes it clear what kind of model it will be. Yes, it is another small SUV to reach the B segment, precisely the segment that seems to have the most proposals and also the one that grows the most in the sales table.

The new Toyota B-SUV will be positioned below the larger C-HR — recently renovated and already tested by us — but like this it will also be a hybrid and, unusual in the segment, it will also have four-wheel drive, like happens, for example, with the Suzuki Vitara.

Underneath the dynamic features of the new Toyota B-SUV we find the same base as the new Yaris, the GA-B. Likewise, it will have to share its engines, namely the most recent evolution of the hybrid engine, which received a new three-cylinder combustion engine with a capacity of 1.5 l.

Historically, it's not the first time Toyota has occupied this space, even when these types of proposals were considered niche — remember the Urban Cruiser?

What else does Toyota bring to the Geneva Motor Show?

If this new Toyota B-SUV should be the Japanese brand's big debut and star at the Swiss show, there will be more points of interest at its stand.

Gazoo Racing is showing for the first time in public the new GR Yaris and GR Supra 2.0 (which would you choose?). In addition, for WRC fans will also be exposed the Yaris WRC 2020, as well as the Hilux that Fernando Alonso competed in the Dakar.

The remaining novelties on display will include the new Yaris, the plug-in hybrid version of the RAV4, and also the European debut of the second generation of the Mirai, its model with hydrogen fuel cell.
