Aspark Owl. Is this the car with the fastest accelerations in the world?

Anonim

Little by little, the number of electric hypersports is growing and after having introduced you to models like the Rimac C_Two, Pininfarina Battista or the Lotus Evija, today we talk about the Japanese response to these models: the Aspark Owl.

Unveiled in the form of a prototype at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Aspark Owl has now been unveiled in its production version at the Dubai Motor Show and, according to the Japanese brand, is “the car with the fastest acceleration in the world”.

The truth is that, if the numbers revealed by Aspark are confirmed, the Owl may well deserve such distinction. According to the Japanese brand, the 100% electric hyper sports car takes physically uncomfortable 1.69s to go from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h), ie about 0.6s less than the Tesla Model S P100D. Acceleration at 300 km/h? Some “miserables” 10.6s.

Although Aspark is Japanese, the Owl will be produced in Italy, in collaboration with Manifattura Automobili Torino.

As for maximum speed, the Aspark Owl is capable of reaching 400 km/h. All this despite the Japanese model weighs (dry) around 1900 kg, a value well above the 1680 kg that weighs the Lotus Evija, the most lightweight of the electric hypersports.

Faced with the prototype unveiled in Frankfurt, the Owl saw some controls pass to the roof (as happens in other hypersports).

Aspark Owl's other numbers

In order to achieve the announced performance level, Aspark offered the Owl nothing less than four electric motors capable of debiting 2012 cv (1480 kW) of power and about 2000 Nm of torque.

Powering these engines is a battery with a capacity of 64 kWh and a power of 1300 kW (in other words, with less capacity than the Evija, something that Aspark justifies with the saving in weight). According to the Japanese brand, this battery can be recharged in 80 minutes in a 44 kW charger and offers 450 km of autonomy (NEDC).

With production limited to just 50 units, the Aspark Owl is expected to start shipping in the second quarter of 2020 and will cost 2.9 million euros . Out of curiosity, Aspark says that the Owl is (probably) the lowest legal hypersport road of all, measuring just 99 cm in height.
