MotoGP and BMW's M division have teamed up to announce a new safety car for the motorcycling world championship.

The link between BMW's M division and the Motorcycling World Championship has been going on for many years, and it seems to continue. The BMW M4 Coupé, which was transformed into a safety car in the 2015 season, will give way to the new BMW M2.

For this, the German sports car has adopted a “uniform” with the characteristic colors of M Motorsport, an LED light bar on the hood and gold wheels from the M division. In addition, the BMW M2 now has Michelin Cup 2 high-performance tyres, new brakes and adjustable suspension.

Over 10 weeks of work, BMW has also developed a set of improvements with aerodynamics in mind: rear diffuser, carbon fiber side skirts and adjustable rear spoiler. Inside, the BMW M2 got sporty front seats made by the German company Recaro, while the rear seats were removed.

As for the engines, the twin-turbo 3.0 6-cylinder block remains unchanged, but the 370 hp is enough for accelerations from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. The BMW M2 can be seen during the next Moto GP season, which starts on March 20th in Qatar.
