Easytronic 3.0: the Opel box for the city

Opel's more compact models will receive a new semi-automatic gearbox, designed especially for drivers driving more in town.

Spending more and more hours in traffic is “our daily bread”. Always swapping the first gear for the second one, too. At this moment, the world - or the big cities - is divided into three distinct groups: those who opt for a car with automatic transmission, to facilitate urban ease, those who do not have "time" to think about these luxurious boxes and, for Finally, those who do not exchange a good manual gearbox for anything in this world.

The German brand decided to work around the problem, launching a new semi-automatic gear that is cheaper, with smooth passages and shorter reaction times, compared to the previous generation.

The second-generation five-speed robotic gearbox, called Easytronic 3.0, is an affordable 'automatic transmission' option and will become an option on the Opel Karl, Adam, Corsa and even the big winner of the Essilor Car of the Year award 2016 and 2016 International Car of the Year, the Opel Astra.

In addition to the fully automatic mode, the Easytronic 3.0 gearbox offers the possibility of being manually operated via forward and backward movements on the lever. According to the brand, it is cheaper and more efficient compared to the automatic boxes used in more compact cars. It comes equipped with Creep mode, for lower speeds, sequential manual mode and promises to maintain efficient consumption.
